We tend to think that creativity applies exclusively to art, or drama or music. Sometimes we extend the concept of creativity to other categories, like a creative science experiment or a clever invention. Generally, however, when we think of what creativity looks like, we think of an end ‘product.’ We tend to want to see something we can touch and handle…something that is lasting. But these kinesthetic kids are amazing! They use their bodies to create through time, space and movement. They defy physics. Watch…but keep breathing!
It’s time to change that perspective. Narrowly defining our concepts of ‘creativity’ limits our perceptions of who we are and what we can do. We need to recognize that our kinesthetic creators are every bit as creative as children who create through any other intelligence. Any questions?
